• What does collective care look like to you in your context? In your particular workplace, culture and country?
• In what ways do you seek to practice care or solidarity with people in contexts or cultures that are different from your own?
In the Philippines, the concept of kapwa is about recognizing our shared inner humanity -- the self as connected with our fellow beings -- and at its highest level, pakikipagkapwa is the pursuit of collective care that honors the freedom, dignity and justice for all.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Through conversation and guided journaling, this gathering aims to help you:
• Connect with fellow culture-builders seeking to infuse more connection, meaning and diverse perspectives in their respective organizations and communities
• Get inspired by different perspectives of collective care with Ugnayan Cards' Jen Horn sharing about pakikipag-ugnayan sa kapwa and Good Food Community's Charlene Tan sharing about their Pamayanihan model of community-supported care
• Reflect on your own practice of culture-building across geographical and cultural differences, within your organization and beyond

Charlene Tan
Charlene believes that the seeds of justice are sown by solidarity. This is what brought her to start and sustain Good Food Community, a solidarity-based organization in the Philippines that has been seeking to cultivate a culture of care since 2011. The primary way they do this is by connecting small-holder farmers with urban households through an alternative distribution system called Pamayanihan, or their take on Community Shared Agriculture. Evolving over the last fifteen years as a response to the multiple crises of our age-- climate imperialism, shameful waste and structural injustice, this model is a way in which we can all be nourished. Having moved Los Angeles in 2021, she is keen to grow this work of care and co-liberation across the Pacific.
