Summary: Tara Giambrone initiated a discussion about the recent pullback on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) efforts in the US. They mentioned noticing a trend where such initiatives are being deprioritized or reframed, with some organizations folding them into less critical business functions. Deb Horowitz responded, observing a similar trend of either pulling back or rebranding DEIA efforts, often through user-generated content, despite evidence of its profitability. They expressed frustration over the ongoing battle to promote DEIA to senior leadership.
How is everyone navigating the pullback on DEIA efforts (in the US, at least)? I’m seeing a mix of quiet deprioritization, reframing under different language, or doubling down more intentionally (though this one is rare). At the same time, workplace culture and employee experience efforts seem to be getting folded into “nice to have” buckets again, which feels… familiar and not in a good way.
What’s actually happening inside your organizations right now and how are you handling it with your employees?

·4 months agoHi Tara, I'm seeing a lot of pulling back or reframing. The latter is showing up through more user-generated content on the career websites and in social posts. It feels like a never-ending battle to keep promoting the power of DEIA to senior leadership, even after all of these years of statistical data showing how profitable it is to an organization. It's frustrating!
